The Importance of Side Tables

The Importance of Side Tables

We are always on the look out for cool and quirky furniture designs and recently the wall resting Yeh side-table from Menu caught our attention. This table offers users an eye-catchingly minimal design that relies on its two front legs and a wall for support. It is ideal as a bedside table or even in a hallway and will perfectly compliment any modern and minimalist home.
The table itself has some pretty interesting origins, it was designed by Kenyon Yeh and was inspired by a cheerleader practice: “two students were rehearsing strength and balance. The male student was in sitting position up against a wall and the female student was standing on his thighs”. Yeh used this idea and mimicked it in his table design, with its back resting on the wall and front two legs angled away from the wall for stability.
If there is one thing we have learnt about furniture over the years it is that you shouldn’t underestimate the purpose of furniture and a side table is one of those pieces that once you have invested in it, you will be unsure how you managed to survive without it. They are a perfect way to compliment any room, whether you are looking for a place to rest magazines or drinks by the side of a sofa and of course who could survive without a bedside table.
Side tables have many different uses and there are plenty of different designs and styles available on the market. If there is one piece of furniture that will last you a considerable amount of time and be well worth its cost, it is a side table. Below we have noted just a few of its key uses to show you how necessary they are.
In The Living Room
A side table is a perfect way to compliment a coffee table or your sofas. Simply put a side table on either arm of a sofa and you have an ideal place to rest drinks, books and magazines. They are also a necessity for anyone who likes to read as they allow you to have a lamp at the perfect height and distance from you.
As A Bedside Table
Bedside tables are generally chosen to match your existing bedroom furniture and so they are a perfect accompaniment to most bedrooms. They also provide you with additional storage solutions, making them ideal for smaller rooms. Bedside tables also work well in larger rooms as they help to break up the open space and make a room look fuller without being cluttered.

In A Hallway
There is nothing less attractive in a home than walking into a cluttered and unattractive hallway, it is the entrance to the house and therefore the first impression people will have of it. A side table in a hallway is a great way to keep all the clutter to a minimum without consuming too much space. Use it to keep post off the floor and store your keys so that you are never wasting time looking around the house for them.
